During the August 23 episode of AEW Dynamite, Jon Moxley defeated Rey Fenix. But after, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta attacked Fenix with crowbars. When Eddie Kingston and Penta El Zero Miedo went to make the save, a returning Ortiz stepped in their way.
After he popped up, Santana received entrance music and helped Ortiz attack Kingston and Penta. Santana and Ortiz then retreated with The Blackpool Combat Club as Fenix was attended to by medical officials.
Fenix was then taken out on a stretcher and later driven away in an ambulance.
Santana has been out of action for over a year since suffering an injury in the 2022 Blood and Guts match. Meanwhile, Ortiz hasn’t wrestled for AEW/ROH since April.
As Fightful previously reported this week, Fenix is seemingly being written out of the planned Stadium Stampede match at AEW All In due to visa issues. Meanwhile, it appears Santana and Ortiz are filling two out of three of the mystery spots on Blackpool Combat Club’s team.
