Tony Khan: Sting Is On The Greatest Run Of His Career In AEW

Tony Khan believes Sting is having the best run of his career.

After the legend initially retired in 2016, he returned to action in a cinematic match at AEW Revolution 2021. He later wrestled in his first official match for the company at AEW Double or Nothing 2021. Sting has since competed for AEW on multiple occasions.

Speaking on The Chase McCabe Show, Khan highlighted Sting’s tenure in AEW. He stated that “he “The Icon” was on the best run of his career.

“When you talk about some of the biggest names in pro wrestling, for me, it starts and ends with Sting,” Khan said. “He’s one of the all-time legends, he’s one of my all-time favorites. Sting is still a huge part of AEW, and one of the greatest things we accomplished was bringing Sting out of retirement.

“He is still wrestling to this day. He is undefeated in AEW, and he’s on the greatest run of his career right now, here in AEW.”

Sting is set to team with Darby Allin at AEW All In on August 27. The duo will face Swerve Strickland and AR Fox in a Coffin Match.

Sting Comments On Potential Retirement

Sting previously discussed his potential retirement. At the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door post-show scrum, he was asked whether he had decided on a date.

“I have not decided on a date,” Sting said. “A lot of people have actually wondered if I was gonna retire in Wembley. That would be kinda cool, but I don’t see that happening. I think I’m gonna continue on. Tony’s kind of been in my ear a little bit here and there, saying, ‘Steve, you can stay as long as want.’

“I’m not sure how long that’ll be, but like I said a few months ago, showtime is just about over with, and it truly is. But I’m looking forward to going back to London. Last time I was there, I was Joker Sting, and the crowd loved it there. It was not the big stadium, it was just the arena, but still, great crowd, and I’m looking forward to heading back over there.”
