Gunther: I Think I’m Good At Being A Champion, I Carry Myself A Certain Way

Gunther says he believes he’s good at being a champion in wrestling.

“The Ring General” has reigned supreme as the WWE Intercontinental Champion for over a year. He has defeated a number of stars throughout his title reign, and he has elevated the title in the process.

Speaking with Mail Sport, WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther was asked to describe how much he’s enjoying representing the title. He stated that he enjoys representing the gold, and he believes he’s good at it. “The Ring General” stated that he’s good at being a champion because he carries himself a certain way.

‘I’ve enjoyed it a lot and I think it’s something I’m good at,” Gunther said. “It might sound weird but I think I’m good at being a champion in wrestling. Because I carry myself a certain way, I add to the legacy of the title and I add my own legacy in the same process of that. It’s a big responsibility and I take it very serious, but it’s also very rewarding as well.”

Gunther On Transition From NXT To Main Roster

In the same interview, Gunther was asked to discuss the transition from NXT to the main roster. He responded by noting that hearing so many opinions from various personalities has been one of the biggest challenges.

‘When you do a transition from NXT to the main roster it’s more about going through the big change and still keep believing in yourself and your ability,” he said. “Don’t be intimidated by everything around it or personalities who give their opinions and stuff like that. Where I am right now is the top of the world in terms of our sport and there are many influential personalities with so many opinions that it’s just really important not to lose yourself through that.

“Take advice, take on board what benefits you, even if there’s something you don’t agree with it, but don’t lose the feeling of who you are and what you can do best. I would say that was the biggest struggle, but to be honest it’s more of a development and it’s been a very enjoyable journey so far.”

At WWE SummerSlam, Gunther will defend the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Drew McIntyre. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show as it airs.
