Despite being built for months, the rematch between Trish Stratus and Becky Lynch won’t take place this Saturday at SummerSlam.
It was announced on WWE RAW that Lynch will get her rematch against Stratus on August 14 in Winnipeg. But why was the match taken off the SummerSlam card?
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), the company has been “adamant” regarding runtime and matches for their premium live events. This has caused some matches that were being built for SummerSlam to be moved off the card.
Sapp was told if this match remained on the SummerSlam card, its time would be “severely limited.” While there were discussions of moving the match to WWE Payback next month, the company settled upon a match on RAW instead.
This change took place in the days leading up to RAW earlier this week, and neither Trish Stratus nor Becky Lynch are reportedly thrilled about the adjustment.
