Gable Steveson‘s career as a WWE Superstar is officially underway.
Steveson competed in his first match at NXT Great American Bash, where he faced Baron Corbin. The Olympic gold medalist was set to make his decision about his future on the July 25 episode of WWE NXT. Corbin interrupted and warned Steveson he’d make him stay away from WWE. Steveson then issued a challenge for a singles match at NXT Great American Bash.
Corbin and Steveson then clashed at NXT Great American Bash. The two-time National Champion from the University of Minnesota delivered an impressive performance in his first outing. He held his own with Corbin, a former King of the Ring and United States Champion.
However, the match did not end with a clear winner. Corbin and Steveson fought at ringside, and they failed to get back in the ring in time for the referee’s count. The official ruled that the match ended in a double count-out.
Corbin and Steveson continued to brawl. Security officials tried to get involved, and Corbin and Steveson attacked them. The fight ended with Steveson suplexing Corbin through the barricade with a suplex.
