Toni Storm’s Recent AEW In-Ring Absence Seemingly Explained

Toni Storm hasn’t been wrestling much lately in All Elite Wrestling, but there’s a good reason for that.

AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm has only wrestled on All Elite Wrestling programming once in the last month. Storm was featured on Battle of the Belts VII defending her title against Taya Valkyrie.

Storm’s in-ring absence has recently been a sticking point among fans that All Elite Wrestling isn’t utilizing their women’s division properly by showing the champion. But there’s seemingly a good reason for her recent absence.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Toni Storm recently wrapped up filming Queen of the Ring: Based on the True Story of Mildred. Surprisingly, Storm landed the role of Clara Mortensen, a role that initially belonged to WWE Superstar Liv Morgan. Morgan has been on the receiving end of multiple injuries over the last couple of months.

Clara Mortensen was a wrestler in the 1930s and 40s. Mortensen later moved on from wrestling and got into acting instead.

In addition to Morgan losing her spot in the film, Charlotte Flair did as well. NWA Women’s World Champion Kamille replaced Flair in the role of June Byers, who is Mildred Burke’s major rival in the movie.

It’s currently unknown why both Flair and Morgan lost their roles in this film.

Queen of the Ring: Based on the True Story of Mildred is an independent film that’s tentatively scheduled to release in 2024.
