RUSH is set to stay with All Elite Wrestling for the foreseeable future, according to a new report.
On July 24, “El Toro Blanco” shared a clip in which he signed a new contract and hugged AEW CEO Tony Khan. He also stated that he was “100% AEW.”
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported some details about the move. Meltzer wrote that the new contract is believed to be a multi-year deal. The report also stated that WWE was interested in the former ROH World Champion. However, the company never made him an official offer, as they found out that AEW offered him “insane money,” per one source.
Meltzer also wrote that WWE would have wanted RUSH to start in NXT, and they felt they would have had to give him more than nearly everyone else there.
RUSH last wrestled for AEW on the May 26 episode of AEW Rampage. There, he teamed up with Dralistico and Preston Vance. In recent months, he has also wrestled for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.
RUSH’s Decision To Stay With AEW
Jose the Assistant tweeted about RUSH’s decision re-sign with AEW. He wrote that “El Toro Blanco” stayed because of the care that Tony Khan showed for his wife and newborn child. Jose acknowledged that there were other offers, but RUSH never considered leaving.
RUSH was one of the top stars in the previous era of ROH; he is a two-time ROH World Champion. He has competed for the company multiple times since Khan acquired it in March 2022.
