The June 23 episode of WWE SmackDown was initially set to look quite different, according to a new report.
Ahead of the show, LA Knight was scheduled to face Butch and Santos Escobar in a Triple Threat match, and Bayley was set to defend her spot in the Money in the Bank match against Shotzi. However, neither of these matches happened. Knight faced Rey Mysterio, while Bayley and Shotzi were pulled from the show entirely.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that most of the script was changed ahead of SmackDown. Sapp wrote that one talent asked, “Did SmackDown get Vinced”, as many of the promoted matches were adjustment and/or cut, and significant changes were made to the version of the show that had been the plan as of Friday morning.
Sapp confirmed WRKD Wrestling‘s tweets that several talent were frustrated by the change, and this had been the case for the start of the June 19 episode of WWE RAW, which experienced a similar situation, as well.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
