James Gunn Provides Updates On ‘Peacemaker’, ‘Suicide Squad 2’

According to James Gunn, it’ll be a while before fans see the second season of Peacemaker, but it’s definitely coming.

James Gunn directed and wrote The Suicide Squad, and John Cena was part of the ensemble cast as Peacemaker. Gunn then created and wrote the Peacemaker spin-off show, which stars John Cena as the eponymous character, and the first season premiered in January 2022.

A second season was announced, but it has been delayed, as Gunn and Peter Safran took over as the Co-Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers of DC Studios in October. Since then, they have been mapping out the future of DC’s films and television shows ever since.

Speaking on Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, Gunn was asked whether Peacemaker is coming back, and he stated that it’s the next item on the agenda after his Superman film.

“’Peacemaker’’s coming back right after ‘Superman.’ That’s my next thing, go straight from Superman to Peacemaker. ‘Waller’ is first, and ‘Waller’ is a lot of the same people from ‘Peacemaker.’

Rosenbaum asked whether there would be a sequel to The Suicide Squad, Gunn simply stated, “No.”

Gunn’s Superman Legacy is set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
