Dakota Kai has reportedly been sidelined with an injury.
On the May 19 episode of WWE SmackDown, WWE announced that Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez were relinquishing their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Morgan was not cleared to compete after she sustained an injury in a match against Bayley and Kai on the May 12 episode of WWE SmackDown.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that Kai suffered an injury in the same match as Morgan, and Bayley said as much during an interview on the May 19 episode of WWE SmackDown.
In an update, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports that Kai suffered a torn ACL in the match, and she is scheduled to have surgery on May 23. He wrote that it’s believed that Kai got hurt in a spot where she was aware of Morgan’s injury, and she was trying to protect her.
All injuries are different, but recovery from ACL surgery can take from six months to a year to recover.
As for Morgan, Bryan Alvarez discussed her injury on Wrestling Observer Radio and noted that she might require surgery as well.
WrestleZone wishes both Kai and Morgan well in their recoveries, and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
