Will Ospreay responds to rumors that he’s booked for AEW All In London at Wembley Stadium and shares his thoughts on the upcoming show.
The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion is one of the top stars in New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Due to the working relationship between AEW and NJPW, he has wrestled for AEW several times in 2022. With that in mind, fans have speculated that he could be part of AEW All In London at Wembley Stadium, the company’s looming debut in the United Kingdom.
In an interview with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, Ospreay addressed the rumors and made it clear that his reportedly planned involvement with the show was news to him. (H/t Fightful for the transcription.)
“I would love to know who said this,” Ospreay said. “Because I didn’t even f—— know. So this is all f—— news to me.”
Ospreay then highlighted AEW’s looming debut in the United Kingdom and specifically shared his belief that England is the hotbed for Europe. He noted that London getting WWE Money in the Bank was “cute”, but he felt like England deserved a WrestleMania.
“It’s f—— insane, isn’t it? But I feel like our country, we’re like the hotbed for Europe, personally,” Ospreay said. “Because we get so many flights from even really sh-tty airlines like Stansted, Ryanair. We can go to every bit of Europe and you can come to England for like thirty quid. For Europeans, it’s an easy place to get to. I feel like England’s been starving for a real good pay-per-view quality. In reality we should have gotten a WrestleMania. We should have. Do you know what I mean? We should have. But it’s nice that they’re gonna give us a Money in the Bank. I think that’s cute.”
As for the choice to run Wembley Stadium, Ospreay stated that it was “mad”, but he called the early success of the ticket sales insane. He stated that England has been starving for a “good quality wrestling spectacular and expressed his gratitude in response to the rumors that he could be a part of it.
“It’s just mad that AEW’s gone, ‘F— it, we’ll do a stadium,'” Ospreay said. “Even I was like, ‘That’s a big f—— ask.’ But my God, if the rumors are true, 66,000 have been sold. That’s insane. But I’m not surprised either because we’ve been starving for a good-quality wrestling spectacular over here.
“If the rumors are true, and I’m apparently a part of it, I can’t tell you how grateful I am. I really do mean it. I wrestled at Wembley Arena in IMPACT. F—— Mark Andrews got knocked out. So I had to look after his ass. But it’s a f—— stadium, do you know what I mean? It’s f—— crazy.”
Looking back on the first All In, Ospreay recalled how Cody Rhodes once asked him why he wasn’t a part of it, and he told “The American Nightmare” that he hadn’t been invited. Ospreay then called Tony Khan a “madman” for going for it by booking All In London at the 90,000-seat stadium.
“It’s so sick that they’re doing that. I love the concept of the All In. I got a message from Cody ages ago, he said like, ‘Why didn’t you do All In?’ I was like, ‘Because you didn’t f—— ask me.’ He’s like, ‘I thought I did.’ I’m like, ‘No, you c-nt. You didn’t ask me.’ ‘I’m so sorry.’
“It says everything. All In is like gambling. It’s about just going for it. 31 years ago we had British Bulldog and Bret Hart in Wembley and no one would ever think we would bring wrestling back there. Tony Khan’s a madman going for it.”
