The tournament for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship is underway, as the competition began on the May 8 episode of WWE RAW. WWE confirmed the SmackDown side of the tournament.
As previously announced, the May 12 episode of WWE SmackDown will feature two Triple Threat matches in the tournament to crown a new World Heavyweight Championship. The victor will face the winner of the RAW side of the bracket, which was held on the May 8 episode of WWE RAW.
On Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown, AJ Styles will face Edge and Rey Mysterio. The winner of that match will face the winner of a Triple Threat match between Sheamus, Bobby Lashley, and WWE United States Champion Austin Theory.
The winners of the two sides of the bracket will face off in a match for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Night of Champions.
