Fightful Select has provided more updates on Drew McIntyre and his future with WWE. It is widely believed that his contract is set to expire very early in 2024, before WrestleMania 40. The report indicates that McIntyre is very undecided on his future at this time and is not sure what will ultimately happen. It was said that he operated under the assumption that WrestleMania 39 very well could have been his last one.
McIntyre is said to be open to exploring his options outside of WWE but would be willing to leave the door open to coming back to WWE at some point in the future. As reported over the past month, McIntyre has been dealing with some injuries but was adamant to everyone who asked that he continue working through WrestleMania last month.
McIntyre was one of several superstars on the main roster who did not learn about their WWE Draft plans until it was announced on television. Drew is said to be very hands-on with his creative direction and with speculation that there have been pitches for him to return as a heel, he is likely to push back and ensure that it makes creative sense.
Talent that spoke with Fightful said that they are not sure how WWE’s deal with Endeavor will affect future contract negotiations. WWE has had a different approach to renewing deals in the past few years.
