Steve Austin Explains Why He’s Not A Fan Of Rollercoasters

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin opens up about his disdain for rollercoasters.

He may be one of professional wrestling’s most fearless competitors, but “The Texas Rattlesnake” admits even he is wary about certain things in real life, including rollercoasters. In a recent interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Steve Austin revealed he is not a fan of the popular amusement park ride. “Man, I’m not a big thrill seeker. I’m not looking to go out there and just do a bunch of crazy stuff,” he said.

Austin’s dislike for rollercoasters was exacerbated after a conversation he had with an old travel partner on the subject. “When I used to travel down the road with Lord Steven Regal (aka William Regal), one of my really good friends, in Blackpool where he’s from, they had little gimmick circuses and we would talk. The people from England were really tough. If the rollercoaster went off the rails, and squashed a bunch of people, they just passed out a bunch of free tickets. ‘Oh, it’s okay. Here’s some free tickets for the next one.'”

“So, that’s always in the back of my mind. As safe as these things can be, I’ve always wondered about the one that I get on. It’s going to careen off the rails. And it’s like, ‘man, what happened to Stone Cold?’ ‘Boy, you remember that rollercoaster that went off the rails? He was on that roller coaster.’ So, it’s stuff like that that I look at the worst-case scenario. When they leave you hanging at the top because they’re trying to mess with you. It works — the clack, clack, clack, clack, clack on the way up and then you just go down. Not fun, not fun.”
