Kurt Angle would enjoy being a heel with Chad Gable but doesn’t believe that people would boo him at this stage in his life.
Kurt Angle, at one point, was one of the top heels in both WWE and TNA Wrestling. However, since his return to WWE in 2017, Angle has remained a babyface legend character on TV and he says he doesn’t foresee that changing even if he were to make a return to the squared circle.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Kurt Angle Show podcast, Angle revealed that he would like to have a nice heel run alongside Chad Gable, but doesn’t think it’s possible.
“I would love to be a heel with Chad Gable, he’s so entertaining. The two of us together would be unstoppable. I’m sorry to say if I ever came back to wrestle, I don’t know if I’d be a heel. It’d be really difficult for me because of the career I have and the age I am. When you get older, people start having sympathy for you and they wanna cheer you on, they want you to win and it’s really hard to turn heel later on in your career. Like Undertaker, look at him. He has so much respect. He’s been in the company for 30 years and all his accomplishments. Do you know how hard it would be for Undertaker to be a heel right now? It’s almost impossible and I think I’m comparable to that,” said Angle.
In the past, Angle has spoken about a potential return to the ring, specifically saying that he believes he would be open to doing a few cinematic matches from time to time.
