AEW Dynamite Results (4/19/23): TNT Title Match, Jay White In Action

Backstage, AEW World Champion MJF interrupts Sammy Guevara’s interview and says he’s offering him a guaranteed spot of the pay-per-view; he says he just has to lay down. Guevara vows to earn the title match. MJF also offers Guevara a blank check, and Sammy writes a number on it. MJF says Guevara has a deal, and they hug.

Jay White (with Juice Robinson) vs. Komander

White controls the action early on. Shawn Spears is shown sitting in the crowd. Komander rallies and sends White to the outside with an acrobatic takedown. Komander goes for a moonsault, but White evades it and slams him onto the apron. White grounds Komander. In the crowd, Shawn Spears holds up a sign that has a “six” on it, seemingly grading White’s performance. Komander fires up with a flurry of offense. Komander blasts White with a thrust kick. He dives onto White at ringside, and Spears gives him a “10.” Komander hits a rope-walk Shooting Star Press for a two count. A springboard Phoenix Splash earns him a two count. White dodges a splash and goes for the Bladerunner, but Komander counters. White dumps Komander with a Cutthroat Suplex. He hits the Bladerunner for the win.

Winner: Jay White

Spears gives White a “5” and doesn’t look impressed. Juice Robinson attacks Spears, and they brawl. White and Robinson brawl with Spears, and Ricky Starks makes the save. Starks sends White and Robinson running.

Backstage, FTR learn that Mark Briscoe got attacked by The Varsity Athletes and Slim J. They go to the trainer’s room and argue with Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh, and Sonjay Dutt. Mark isn’t cleared to compete, but he pitches a tag team match where FTR would join forces with Jarrett and Lethal.

In-Ring Segment: Adam Cole and Chris Jericho

Cole makes it clear that he respects Jericho, as he has studied him for a long time. He says he even modeled his catchphrase after Cole. Jericho says he has no respect for Cole and says Cole disrespecting him last week. Cole calls Jericho a jag-off and an insecure, stupid idiot. Jericho warns Cole that you never want to meet your heroes.

He shoves Cole, and they briefly brawl. The JAS comes to the ring and attacks Cole. Britt Baker comes down and pulls Jericho off Cole. She slaps Jericho. The Outcasts attack Baker from behind. Cole gets handcuffed to the ropes, and he can only watch as Saraya hits Baker with a kendo stick.

In a video message, Matt Hardy says his team is in charge, and he doesn’t give an answer about The Elite Deletion match. Jeff Hardy says he’ll address the fans on AEW Rampage.

The Acclaimed (Max Caster and Anthony Bowens) and “Daddy Ass” Billy Gunn vs. Jericho Appreciation Society (Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, and Jake Hager)

The JAS attacks The Acclaimed and Gunn during their entrance. The Acclaimed rally, but the JAS takes control. Gunn makes the hot tag and clotheslines Parker out of the ring. Hager dodges a Fameasser and slams Gunn for a two count. Parker hits Bowens with a concealed weapon, but he kicks out. Parker accidentally hits Hager with the weapon. Gunn takes his comb and breaks it. The Acclaimed hits Parker with the Mic Drop.

Winners: The Acclaimed (Max Caster and Anthony Bowens) and “Daddy Ass” Billy Gunn

Pillars Tournament: “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry vs. Sammy Guevara

The two stars battle it out right away. Guevara dives onto Perry at ringside. He hits a Spanish Fly. Guevara hits another Spanish Fly, and Perry lands hard on the floor. They brawl around ringside. Back in the ring, Perry rallies with a lariat. Perry powerbombs Guevara onto the apron. Perry hits a Canadian destroyer. Guevara spikes Perry on his head for a two count. He goes for the GTH, but Perry counters and hits a reverse hurricanrana. Guevara drops Perry with one of his own. Both men are down after a flurry of offense. They keep going back and forth, and Perry locks in the Snare Trap, but Guevara reaches the ropes. Guevara sends Perry flying with a dropkick, and Perry hits his head on a table at ringside. MJF blindsides Perry, and he gets counted out.

Winner: Sammy Guevara

MJF and Guevara celebrate together after the bell.
