Kurt Angle discusses the differences between Shawn Michaels and Rob Van Dam as in-ring competitors.
Kurt Angle wrestled Rob Van Dam and Shawn Michaels a handful of times each and has now been asked to compare and contrast those two competitors.
Speaking on the latest episode of The Kurt Angle Show podcast, where Rob Van Dam was the subject of the overall show, Angle was asked by a fan to compare the wrestling styles of the former WWE World Champions.
“Oh, wow. That’s a good comparison, Rob Van Dam and HBK. I’d say HBK is a little better athlete. Rob was just more flexible. You know, he did more kicks and stuff, like that more karate type of stuff, but their styles were identical. They both could do aerial stuff. They both wrestled heavyweight style. Very, very identical. So I see that,” said Kurt.

Rob Van Dam eventually joined Angle and Shawn Michaels in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021. Speaking about RVD’s induction, Angle fully supported Van Dam as a Hall of Famer because he says RVD changed how people view pro wrestling.
“Oh, yeah, definitely. Rob Van Dam changed the way people thought about wrestling. He had a different style than everybody else. He was different. He was Rob Van Dam, and he was really special,” said Kurt.
