Former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa is addressing the drama that’s been surrounding her for months now.
This morning on Busted Open Radio, Thunder Rosa addressed the recent comments that Britt Baker has made on AEW: All Access and her desire to step back in the ring with her rival when she can get cleared from her injury.
“First and foremost, I want to make sure that people understand that at the beginning of all this drama, everybody was speculating that I wasn’t hurt,” Thunder Rosa said. “It started with that. And then it was proven that I was hurt. There’s MRIs, they talked to my doctor, I had multiple epidurals, and till now, I’m still not cleared.
“I had another MRI last week, and the pain’s still there. Third of all, for me personally, I wanted to drop the title the day that they told me I couldn’t wrestle because I was going to be out for four to six weeks. And you’re absolutely right. My boss made that decision. He said, ‘You’re going to be the champion, and we will have an interim champion.’
“I wanted to make it for me as a competitor; I want to make it fair. So my peers had an opportunity to defend the championship because it wasn’t fair that I wasn’t there, and I wasn’t going to be there, and I was going to hold the title. I think the problem comes, and I think this is a question that was raised. It was me not showing up. I wasn’t booked to go there.
“When I got the news that I wasn’t going to keep the title, it really caught me by surprise. And I was like, ‘Oh, today is the day, okay.’ I wasn’t able to go. I wasn’t there to be able to get in the ring and say guys, unfortunately, we made a decision. Here’s the title. Thank you very much for the opportunity to let me represent. That opportunity wasn’t given to me.
“And I want to make sure that we focus on the women’s division now there’s The Outcasts, and there is this storyline with Jamie Hayter, Britt Baker, and all the people here. I’m not there in the ring. I’m not a superhero to be able to get in the ring. Like I said, we gotta respect the people that are now representing the company.
“I am representing the company in a different manner. And like I said, I have talked to the locker room, and I took accountability for things that some people had issues with me, and I went out there and apologized. And that’s the best thing that I can do. Because I want to make money. I want to make sure that I am able to work with everyone regardless if we have any issues or not.
“At the end of the day, I’m booked to wrestle, right? Unfortunately, I can’t wrestle right now. I don’t know if it’s just because of the kind of person that I am; like I said, I’m human. I don’t pretend to be a superhuman or superhero. I’m not here to be a martyr, and I don’t want to be a victim. Everything that I’ve done in wrestling is to provide for my family, and every time I get in the ring, I have sacrificed my body just like everybody else.
“And unfortunately, it was very taxing. Right now, there’s no storyline between Britt Baker and I. And let me tell you, God as my witness; every morning and every night before I go to sleep, I pray to God that when I get cleared, there’s one thing I want to do and one thing only. And that is not to get the championship, or the TBS, or the Women’s Championship, but there’s one thing and settle this in the ring once and for all. And that’s to wrestle Britt Baker and show the world what a real professional wrestler is. That’s all I have to say about this.”
