Mercedes Moné sounds like she is just waiting for the right call.
Speaking at Planet Comicon 2023 (via COOLTOY), Mercedes Moné was asked whether she’ll be at Forbidden Door 2 this summer. Moné played coy and said she’s not sure if she would be there, but it all starts with a phone call.
“Oh, when is it? It’s in June? What day? [Fan doesn’t know] I don’t know when to show up then. Anybody know the date? I don’t know. We gotta see then. June’s so far. I think it could be open. July might be open. But I gotta get that phone call. Gotta get that phone call from Unc.”
Forbidden Door 2 will take place on June 25 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. The pay-per-view marks the start of a six-show tour of Canada for AEW, which will include multiple episodes of AEW Dynamite and Rampage.
Kenny Omega is one AEW star that would like to see Mercedes cross through the Forbidden Door, as he recently teased competing in a match together.
Prior to her official NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17, Moné and Omega met backstage. She later said it was “nice to meet” him, and he replied by saying he believes their paths will cross paths again.
“Our work with NJPW isn’t quite done yet, so I’m sure they will! I hear they sometimes do mix matches now too…” Omega tweeted.
