Booker T Wants To See If Dragon Lee Can Live Up To The Hype In NXT

Booker T wants to see whether Dragon Lee can live up to the hype.

Lee, a former ROH World Tag Team Champion who has wrestled for AAA, NJPW, AEW, and other promotions, announced that he signed with WWE in December. Visa issues reportedly delayed his move to NXT, but he made his debut at the live event on March 11.

Speaking on his podcast, The Hall of Fame with Booker T & Brad Gilmore, WWE Hall of Famer and NXT commentator Booker T shared his thoughts on Lee’s looming debut on NXT.

“This kid is definitely someone that’s on the radar. He’s supposed to be next level. He’s supposed to be too-notch. I can’t wait to see Dragon Lee inside the NXT arena doing his thing. Hopefully, he can rise to the level of competition in NXT because we got some players, man. We got some young, hungry lions in NXT, and don’t sleep on those Dragunovs, the number one stunner, those JD McDonaghs of NXT, as well as that kid Carmelo Hayes. There’s a host of young talent that’s looking to be tested, looking to be put to the ultimate test, and I want to see if Dragon Lee live up to the hype.”

Booker T continued by noting that Lee has signed a big contract, so the company will want to see results sooner rather than later. He expressed his hope that Lee will be on the March 14 episode of NXT, though he stated that everyone would have to wait and see.

“This dude got a lot of hype behind him,” he said. “Everybody’s talking about Dragon Lee. Big contract, just signed a big contract. We don’t know how big the contract is, but we heard it’s a big contract. When you sign a big contract, we want results. We want to see it, we ain’t waiting. We ain’t gonna put you on the bench. We gonna put you right in the game, we gonna start you. I hope he’s on television this week. We’ll see.”

WrestleZone will have coverage of NXT as it airs on March 14.
