Last night on AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan announced that All Elite Wrestling has changed the All-Atlantic Championship to the International Championship.
This change isn’t something that was recently decided upon and has reportedly been in the plans for a while now.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), Warner Bros Discovery reached out to All Elite Wrestling to do some big cross-promotion for the upcoming DC Comics movie Shazam: Fury of the Gods.
This game Khan the idea to “level up” the championship from the All-Atlantic to the International Title. Sapp stated this title was made months ago to prepare for this cross-promotion and has been in the plans for quite some time.
The cross-promotion should come as no surprise as Warner Bros Discovery has partnered with All Elite Wrestling multiple times for some of their big intellectual properties such as Shark Week, Game of Thrones, and more.
