Ronda Rousey suffered what appeared to be a storyline injury on the March 3 episode of WWE SmackDown, and a new report shines some light on the situation.
On Friday night’s show, Rousey was scheduled to face Natalya and Tegan Nox in a tag team match alongside Shayna Baszler. Instead, following a backstage brawl between the duos, Rousey suffered an apparent injury, and she was taken out of the match. She accompanied Basler to the ring for a singles match, and her arm was in a sling. The SmackDown broadcast team noted that Rousey suffered an injury, but they didn’t provide any other details.
Wade Keller of PWTorch reports that the setback is legitimate, as Rousey aggravated a previous injury. However, it is not expected to impact her ability to compete at WWE WrestleMania 39.
After Charlotte Flair beat Rousey to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship on the December 30 episode of WWE SmackDown, Rousey was absent until she returned and reunited with Baszler on the February 17 episode.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
