Brett DiBiase Pleads Guilty In Mississippi Welfare Fraud Case

Brett DiBiase has pleaded guilty on charges stemming from his 2020 conviction.

Per WLBT, DiBiase, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase, has pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States in a U.S. District Court. He was convicted in state court in 2020

DiBiase and six others were arrested in February 2020, and they were charged with the embezzlement of millions of dollars in funding for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. The report notes that DiBiase was accused of submitting false paperwork for work he did not perform but was compensated by the Mississippi Department of Human Services. He faces up to five years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

Over two years ago, DiBiase pleaded guilty two to charges in Hinds County Circuit Court. As previously noted, DiBiase was paid $48,000 through us business, Restore 2 LLC, using a number of fraudulent ad false claims to receive payment, which he allegedly covered up by falsifying documents, invoices, books, and other paperwork.

According to investigators, former DHS workers created invoices to pay for teaching classes about drug abuse, whereas he was actually at a luxury rehab facility.

District Attorney Jody Owens commented on the news and stated that the case is far from over.

“I applaud our federal partners for continuing to pursue federal charges for each and every individual responsible for stealing from Mississippi’s most needy and vulnerable citizens,” said Owens. “As I have said before, this case is far from over and both the state of Mississippi and the U.S. government will continue to pursue all those involved in this fraud.”

DiBiase worked for WWE from 2008 to 2011, and he won the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship during his time there.
