DDP believes All Elite Wrestling would have never screwed up with Wardlow if Cody Rhodes was still there helping with the show.
WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page was a recent guest on My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about Cody Rhodes making the jump from All Elite Wrestling back to WWE, DDP said he doesn’t think Tony Khan has realized what he’s lost with Cody Rhodes yet.
“I’ve known who that kid is forever,” DDP began. “He’s got a different belief system, but it’s all wrapped around not just belief, but work. Going into the Rumble, and now I mean coming back from that pec? Tony Khan did not realize what he lost. And not as the worker, because he’s great obviously he’s going for the Universal Title, the top title in the business. Not for that, it was for his storytelling.
“Think of the guys that Cody either put over or went to a draw. Darby Allin, whoever heard Darby Allin? Cody goes 20 minutes with him in a draw. MJF, he brought MJF in. If Cody would have been booking, they never would have screwed up Wardlow; he was Golberg hot. Goldberg hot! You don’t f**k with that! Because that don’t happen. But it was, and now it is what it is. Yo, I really like Tony a lot, but he let a key person – he forgot who that person was.”
