Tony Khan Confirms Jeff Jarrett Will Still Compete On AEW Dynamite Tonight

Despite the recent passing of his father, Tony Khan confirms that Jeff Jarrett still wants to compete and will be in action tonight on AEW Dynamite.

All Elite Wrestling owner Tony Khan was a recent guest on Busted Open Radio with Dave LaGreca, Mickie James, and Tommy Dreamer to discuss a wide variety of subjects. While talking about tonight’s eight-man tag team match, Khan confirmed that Jeff Jarrett is in town for tonight’s show and wants to work his scheduled match on AEW Dynamite.

“Tonight marks Orange Cassidy and The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn teaming up against Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh, Sonjay Dutt returning to the ring, which should be very entertaining,” Tony Khan began. “And I know a lot of guys on the other side have been looking forward to getting their hands on Sonjay Dutt and of course their partner, Double J. Jeff Jarrett. And I have to say I have so much respect for Double J Jeff Jarrett in and out of the ring for, The Last Outlaw.

“He has been amazing for AEW in the ring since he came here, and also he’s been incredible working backstage, and I love working with Jeff. And it’s been terrible, terrible news in the wrestling business to lose one of the greatest minds, one of the greatest figures ever in this business, somebody who’s a visionary and one of the greatest promoters ever.

“He was a legendary pro wrestler and certainly one of the greatest storytelling minds ever in the wrestling business. The late great, Jerry Jarrett, and Jeff Jarrett is here in Laredo, Texas today with us. And Jeff said he wants to wrestle tonight on the show and push forward, and that is such a brave and courageous decision I think. And we would respect whatever Jeff wants to do. But in this case, Jeff told me he wants to wrestle tonight, and I’m very appreciative of everything Jeff does here in AEW.

“He’s a real villain the way he handles things in the ring sometimes, but out of the ring working backstage, Jeff has been great for AEW, and I just want to give to the entire Jarrett family our condolences again, and just I could sit here and talk, and I gladly would come back and sit down and talk for hours on end about all the joy that Jerry Jarrett’s Memphis wrestling promotion has given to people and how much I learned from watching the TV shows that Jerry Jarrett wrote in Memphis.”
