Jinny opens up about being forced to retire due to injury.

During a recent appearance on Ring The Belle with DS Shin, Jinny spoke about her decision to retire from active competition in January. Jinny initially cited how she’d been sidelined due to injury, and now told Shin what went into her decision to retire.

“So when I was injured, this was actually the longest time I have been out with any injury. During the time of being injured and having the symptoms, I was just like ‘Oh wow, this is taking so long for my body to heal.’ The injury that I actually had was a concussion, unfortunately, I took quite a few blows to the head and it was the worst one I ever had. About halfway through I was like, ‘If it’s taking my body this long to heal, if I get hit again, is it going to take even longer?’ And I just had to be smart about it. I love wrestling. I’m a wrestling fan, I always will be and it was a really hard decision. If it wasn’t for that, would I still be wrestling? Yes. But your health is wealth and as difficult as it is and as much as I love this business, and as much as I was [thinking] maybe I’ll be OK, I have to be smart about it and make sure I look after myself. Not just for now, but in the long run as well.”

As far as ever entertaining a comeback goes for a possible retirement match, Jinny says the old adage is “never say never” but she’s not sure she wants to take the chance of getting hurt again.

“Right now I need to focus on my health. Even though I’m healed and I’m fine, I’m cleared and everything, right now I need to focus on myself health-wise. Never say never. Would I fully come out of retirement and have another stint? No. I don’t want to take that chance.”

Jinny’s last match was a win over Amale at the November 18, 2021 NXT UK television tapings in London; the match would ultimately air on January 27, 2022.
