Takahashi is now a five-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion; prior to his win at Wrestle Kingdom 17, he hadn’t held the gold since February 2021, when he was forced to vacate the championship due to an injury. Ishimori won the gold by defeating Desperado at NJPW Wrestling Dontaku 2022.
