Austin Theory was up to his usual tricks during his WWE United States Championship match against Seth Rollins tonight, resorting to some underhanded methods to retain his title.
In a back-and-forth battle between Theory and the superstar that wanted to get his belt back, Rollins just could not put away the reigning champion. The former Monday Night Messiah came close to winning several times, including right after a huge one-legged frog splash late in the match. However, Theory kept kicking out of everything, and eventually things fell apart and allowed him to use some cheap tricks to win.
Late in the match, Theory threw Rollins into the referee, knocking him out in the process. Despite some knee pain from attempting a powerbomb earlier in the match, Rollins still rallied to hit a Pedigree on Theory, and rolled to cover him after. A referee came running down to count, but Theory eventually kicked out of it. Theory then threw Rollins into the ref again, and after some chaos, hit a low blow on Rollins before hitting the A-Town Down for the pin and win.
