Saraya On Sasha Banks: She Puts Butts In Seats, I Selfishly Hope I Get To Wrestle Her One Day

Saraya loves the way Sasha Banks (Mercedes Varnado) has taken her career into her own hands.

Fans continue to speculate about Banks’ future in the wrestling business. She is reportedly set to appear at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17, so fans are eagerly looking forward to the show. Likewise, for weeks, the wrestling world has been buzzing about Banks’ potential arrival in All Elite Wrestling; Saraya is set to team up with a mystery partner to face Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter and Britt Baker on the January 11 episode of AEW Dynamite, and many fans are predicting that Banks will be Saraya’s teammate.

In an interview with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, Saraya spoke highly of the former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion. She stated that she likes the way Banks has taken her career into her own hands, as she clearly knows her own worth. The AEW star also shared her belief that Banks “puts butts in seats”, and she deserves to main-event shows.

“I love the fact that she took her career into her own hands, and she knows her worth and she knows she wants to be treated a certain way, and she deserves to be treated that way because she’s done a lot for the wrestling business,” Saraya said. “She’s one of the girls that puts butts in seats, and you want to see wrestle and you wanna see main event. She deserves all those things.”

The former Paige noted that any company would be “very lucky” to land Banks, but she “selfishly” wants her to come to AEW, as she wants to have the chance to wrestle “The Legit Boss” again.

“Wherever she ends up, I’m gonna be happy for her, and anyone that gets her is gonna be very, very lucky. I just selfishly hope that I get to wrestle her one day. I don’t know if she’d want to because she’d probably be scared to wrestle me again,” Saraya said with a laugh.

Saraya and Banks have been connected for years; an in-ring accident during a 2017 match that involved the two stars ultimately forced Saraya to retire in 2018. She got cleared to compete following her arrival in AEW in September 2022, and she defeated Baker in her comeback match at Full Gear in November.
