MJF Clarifies Recent Report About His Role In ‘The Iron Claw’

MJF clarifies a recent report about his role in A24’s The Iron Claw.

On November 8, Deadline reported that MJF had joined the cast of the film, which is being directed by Sean Durkin. The lineup already includes Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, Holt McCallany, Maura Tierney and Lily James. PWInsider also reported that the AEW star would play Lance Von Erich.

Speaking with Newsday, “The Salt of the Earth” was asked about the role, and he stated that he doesn’t know where the news came from because he never confirmed which character he was playing. When asked if it’s not true, MJF stated that people are simply guessing, but whatever he ultimately ends up doing in the movie will be incredible. He stated that Durkin is intelligent because he booked the “generational talent.”

“I don’t know where that came from, because I never confirmed that,” MJF said. “People are just guessing. I never said that. I’ll just say whatever I end up doing in that movie is incredible, because I’m incredible. And, my God, the cast is so stacked. Zac Efron is the GOAT. Jeremy Allen White, Lily James: Insanely talented people. And you know Sean Durkin is incredibly intelligent, because he booked me.

When asked whether there’s something to be learned from the Von Erichs’ tragic story, MJF responded by taking a shot at Texas. He stated that none of it would have happened if the family was from Long Island.

“I think the number one lesson to be learned is: Don’t be born and raised in Texas. It’s a horrible place,” MJF said. “If the Von Erichs were a Long Island family, none of this would have went down.”

In a subsequent appearance on Cheap Heat, MJF confirmed that he is in The Iron Claw by saying, “Yeah, yeah, I’m a very big deal. Big maj moment for me.”

MJF will challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship at AEW Full Gear.

The Dynamite Diamond Ring winner recently teased his upcoming movie role, as well as some other media opportunities. Check out his comments here.
