The “Top Guys” are reportedly set for NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17.
FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) won the IWGP Tag Team Championship by defeating United Empire (Jeff Cobb and Great-O-Khan) Roppongi Vice (Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta) at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in June. They recently made their NJPW Japan debuts, after competing at two NJPW STRONG shows and the Royal Quest II event in London, at the Battle Autumn event on November 5. Wrestle Kingdom, NJPW’s biggest show of the year, is right around the corner, and a new report suggests that the duo will be there.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that he has confirmed that Harwood and Wheeler will defend their titles at the show, which will be held at the Tokyo Dome on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. By competing at the show, FTR will likely miss that week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, given the overlap.
Harwood and Wheeler are also the reigning ROH World Tag Team Champions, and they currently hold the AAA World Tag Team Championship as well. They will compete on the November 8 episode of AEW Dynamite; check out the updated card here.
