Kazuchika Okada Wanted To Face Bryan Danielson At ‘Forbidden Door’

Everyone is already discussing the possibilities of what will happen at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door II, including Kazuchika Okada.

The former six-time IWGP Champion Kazuchika Okada recently sat down with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about who he’d like to face at the next Forbidden Door pay-per-view, Okada teased the possibility of stepping into the ring with The American Dragon Bryan Danielson.

“I was hoping to meet Bryan Danielson at Forbidden Door, but unfortunately that couldn’t happen,” Kuzuchika Okada said. “Since we couldn’t talk backstage, I’m happy to meet him in the ring next time.”

Okada also had high praise for All Elite Wrestling as an organization based on his time there in the build-up to the first Forbidden Door pay-per-view. Although Tony Khan has gone on record that Forbidden Door will remain stateside, Okada expressed his desire to see it happen in Japan next year.

“AEW is a great promotion, I definitely felt that in my time there,” Kuzuchika Okada said. “There are places where they win out over NJPW, and areas where New Japan is superior as well. I think both sides came away with something to learn and work on, and I’d love to have another event with those lessons learned. Last time was in the U.S., so let’s have it in Japan next time.”

Beyond Bryan Danielson, Okada also seems to have his sights set on stepping into the ring with FTR for a tag team match at some point in the future.

“There’s plenty of great wrestlers over in AEW, and I’d love to be a part of any match that has the fans excited,” Kuzuchika Okada said. “I saw how good of a team FTR were in London, so even a tag match might be interesting.”
