Allison Danger is returning to the ring for one night only.

Wrestling veteran and co-founder of SHIMMER Allison Danger is set to team up with her nephew Colby Corino on October 27 at SHP’s Colby Corino’s Painted Black event to take on Brandon and Kasey Kirk. Danger recently spoke to WrestleZone about why she’s stepping back into the squared circle after nearly a decade away.

“It’s Colby’s fault. It’s all Colby’s fault, I’ll be honest,” Danger said. “When he reached out to me, he’s like, ‘Do you wanna do this?’ I was like, ‘No.’ He was like, ‘Come on, come on. Just one night? You know it’s gonna be fun.’ And I had moments where I watched him versus his dad at the Colby 25th anniversary show last August of 2021 where I was like, ‘Aw, man, they make me wanna get back in the ring again.’ I was like, ‘Nah, it’s gonna hurt.’ Then he asked me, and I was like, ‘I don’t think so. I don’t think so.’ And then I asked my brother, ‘Is it crazy that I kinda wanna do it?’ And he was like, ‘No, you should totally do it.’ And I’m like, ‘Dammit, you guys.’ So here I am. I’m doing it, and I’m only doing one. It’s funny because a lot of people have been like, ‘Can we get you for a match?’ And I’m like, ‘Nah, I’m not getting back in the ring.’ But it’s my nephew. I’ve gotten to wrestle with my brother and against my brother, so now to wrestle with my nephew, it just comes full circle.”

Danger retired in 2013 after sustaining a series of injuries. While preparing for this match, she noted that her neck is in better shape after receiving chiropractic treatment, however, her knees are bone on bone.

“Oh, we’re not telling my doctor we’re doing this,” Danger revealed. “Yeah, so I was regularly seeing a chiropractor down in Orlando, and he was able to get my neck feeling better, but my knees are bone on bone. I need something called PRP therapy. Pretty much it’s just trying to create space in the knees, so it’s arthritis. Every 45-year-old wrestler has it. But it’s a little bit more advanced therapy just to kinda encourage healing and whatnot. But with moving and everything, I just haven’t been able to do it. Like in workouts and stuff, my knees hold up, [but] it’s the afterwards where it’s achy and it’s sore. So there’s going to be ice packs waiting for me at the hotel.”

Danger and Corino will stand across the ring from Brandon and Kasey Kirk, who regularly compete on the indie scene in hardcore matches across promotions like GCW, CZW, and H20. Danger revealed that she’s watched a little bit of tape, however, we shouldn’t expect a deathmatch style from their tag match.

“I watched a little bit of both her [Kasey] and Brandon. Definitely a different style than what I do, so if anyone asks if I’m going with the deathmatch route, absolutely not. That’s a hard no from me, dog. That’s just not my style. Yeah, we’re gonna have a different kind of match. But I’m looking forward to it. I’m looking forward to what her and Brandon bring to the table.”

Earlier this year, Danger spoke to The Sessions with Renee Paquette about what life was like following her release from being a WWE Performance Center coach. When asked where she’s at in her villain origin story, Danger said she’s trying to hold onto the goods after having a terrible year personally.

“We’re right at the point we’re going to see what happens this week and see what direction we go in. Yeah, 2022 has officially cemented itself as the worst year of my life,” Danger declared. “It’s just been—it’s been all downs. So many downs. You know, I’m trying to hold on to the goods. I’m very fortunate that I have a great family. I have some outstanding friends who on days where I just could not pick myself up, they were there to drag me up. I’m so grateful for them. The hits of 2022 keep coming with losing my job the way I did. You know, watching almost everybody from that list go back home, and I’m still sitting here. That’s a hard pill to swallow. I don’t know what the future holds for me, but we’ll see. I’m kind of feeling forgotten by wrestling, but there was a lot of personal strife this year too. The financial [impact] of being stuck in a different state [after] having lost your job is super humbling. If anybody knows how much my cat meant to my family, we lost our cat in July. But honestly the worst thing was we lost our best friend a month ago to COVID. And that’s just been the absolute worst thing. It’s been a bit of a nightmare.”

Allison Danger will return to the ring at Colby Corino’s Painted Black on Thursday, October 27th in Williamstown NJ. The event will stream live on IWTV at 8 pm EST.
