Jessicka shares her thoughts on her evolution into a new character and the fans’ response to the switch.
The former Havok has been featured as Jessicka recently in IMPACT Wrestling. Her bubbly personality stands in stark contrast to her counterpart, and her former partner, Rosemary, hasn’t exactly approved of this progression on IMPACT programming.
In an interview with Darren Paltrowitz, Jessicka discussed her transformation into the character.
“Havok is a very special breed, as far as I’m concerned,” Jessicka said. “Havok has been tearing through the ranks in women’s wrestling for a better part of 19 years, and the thing is, Havok I feel, after everything that happened with Masha and then Havok just kind of leaving, didn’t even tell Rosemary, who is her best friend. Didn’t tell any members of Decay, just kind of disappeared. No one knows where Havok is.
“Then you have Rosemary is desperately to figure out where Havok went. Feels that Havok is the warrior that is needed for this. The only struggle that I’ve had since Jessicka has made an appearance is just trying to prove to Rosemary.
Jessicka also discussed how evolving into a new persona can be “scary” because fans’ reactions are unpredictable. She noted that the response to her new gimmick was somewhat critical at first, but she has seen some of her detractors come around over time.
“It’s a bit scary when you introduce something so new to the world because you don’t know how people are gonna take it,” Jessicka said. “There were a handful of fans that were like, ‘This is really stupid.’ But as the weeks played on, I saw those same people be like, ‘Okay, wait a minute, this is pretty fun.’ Who hates fun? What kind of person are you if you hate fun? Jessicka is an exaggerated version of who I am in real life.
“There have been so many times when fans have come up to me at shows during intermission or meet and greets and been like, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re like the nicest person. I thought that you were scary.’ It’s like well, of course I’m nice. I am still scary. Don’t you forget it. So it’s been honesty a little more freeing to be able to express, because I feel like there’s a lot more of s range with Jessika. I think my biggest concern was, is Jessicka gonna be accepted? I think it’s going pretty great so far, aside from Rosemary, of course. But we’re working on that.”
At IMPACT Bound For Glory, Jessicka will aim to win some gold when she teams up with Taya Valkyrie to challenge VXT (Deonna Purrazzo and Chelsea Green) for the Knockouts World Tag Team Championship.
