Top Dolla says Hit Row is hungry, and they’re going to eat.
The popular stable returned on the August 12 edition of WWE SmackDown, roughly nine months after the teammates (Top Dolla, B-Fab, Ashante “Thee” Adonis, and Isaiah “Swerve” Scott) were released in a series of cuts in November 2021.
During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Top Dolla was asked to describe what fans can expect from the new version of the group. In response, he stated that they will prove why they were the hottest act in wrestling prior to their release.
“You should expect us to go out there every week and prove why we were the hottest act in wrestling,” said Top Dolla. “There’s a lot of people that are very talented in this business and we are three of those people. We feel as if every night that we go out is our opportunity to prove that we should be exactly where we are, and it’s one of those things, it’s like we was already some dogs. Then we was left hungry for a little while. Now we got food again, and we gonna eat.”
In another highlight, the powerhouse looked back on the group’s original run and emphasized that B-Fab brought something special to the table. He later called her a “key player” in the faction.
“When I was working with B, B brought something different to the table, and it’s not just because she is a one of one beauty on this earth,” said Top Dolla. “But because she can talk with the best of them, and I don’t mean just the best women in the world, I mean with the best anybody. On any given night, I know I gotta bring my A-game or B could eat me alive. To me, she was like a key player, and as you could see [on SmackDown], she’s a key player, man. She brings something different.”
Top Dolla also described how he feels like he was born to be in the sports entertainment business. He then shared his belief that B-Fab was also meant for the industry; he stated that she and Ashantee “Thee” Adonis are gifted entertainers, noting that the things that they get over happen naturally. He went on to commend the way B-Fab’s talent helps her take over a moment.
“I feel like I was put on this earth to do this business,” Top Dolla said. “I’m a rare size, and even for my size, I’m an even rarer athlete for my size, and I can talk water out of a well. I feel like I was put on earth for this business. Briana was too. The way that we bounce ideas off each other when we’re working on things, promos, matches, she just has a knack for entertainment. So does Tehuti. I think that’s the reason Hit Row works so well is because half the stuff we come up with or half the stuff that we say or half the things that get over that we say to the crowd, we just like said it in passing earlier in the day and we’re just like yeah, let’s use that, let’s use that.
“Then it goes and people are like oh, that’s amazing, and it’s just like us feeding off of each other. I think that Bri, just her ability as a performer, because she’s been making music for a decade, her ability as a performer is what separates her from a lot of people, female and male on the roster because she, at any given moment, can take over, I don’t wanna say a scene, but take over the moment because she’s just that good. I tell her all the time you don’t gotta wrestle. Your job in this crew is not to wrestle, and if you never wrestle, we will still split the money with you. That’s how strongly we feel about what Bri brings to the table. But to her credit, she still wants so. So she was made for this.”
