Update On Sasha Banks Taking Convention Bookings

More details on Sasha Banks Mercedes Varnado hitting the convention circuit.

The (former?) Sasha Banks was announced for an appearance at C2E2 in Chicago next month, but the listing was notable since it advertised her as Mercedes Varnado instead of her WWE ring name.

Now Fightful (via Fightful Select) is reporting that many wrestling convention promoters have reached out about bringing her in, but they were told she is only taking non-wrestling-related bookings until January 1, 2023. In addition, it was noted that other convention promoters reached out to Varnado’s representatives and were given a “firm, specific rate” to book her.

C2E2 2022 takes place August 5-7; Varnado will appear on August 6 and 7.

Sasha Banks’ WWE status is still unknown, as she and Naomi walked out of a RAW taping in May and haven’t been seen since. It was reported that Banks was released by WWE in June, but the company has still not confirmed her status.

Banks and Naomi walked out of the May 16 episode of WWE RAW, reportedly leaving the show due to creative frustrations. WWE issued a statement and the commentary team called their behavior unprofessional. WWE also stripped Banks and Naomi of the titles and suspended them indefinitely without pay, and their merchandise has been removed from WWE Shop.

Banks signed with WWE in 2012 and made her debut on the main roster in 2015. She is a former NXT Women’s Champion, a five-time RAW Women’s Champion, a one-time SmackDown Women’s Champion, and a three-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion.

Prior to walking out of the RAW taping, Banks said she was open to returning to the Star Wars universe in her Koska Reeves role, noting that it would be a dream come true.
