Ethan Page wants to remain active in the wrestling industry for a long time, even if he doesn’t have a lengthy career as a wrestler.
Page, 32, previously starred in IMPACT Wrestling, and he signed with AEW in March 2021. He has been featured alongside Scorpio Sky as Men of the Year, but he hasn’t won a title yet. Moving forward, Page is focused on improving his position rather than focusing on specific accolades.
During an interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Page discussed his goals within the company; when asked where he’d like to be by the next Double or Nothing pay-per-view, Page stated that he’d be content as long as he’s on an upward trajectory.
“As long as I’m in a better position than I am, it’s not that I’m not about chasing titles or main events, I just understand the way the business works a lot more now,” said Page. “In my old age, I’ve been doing this like 16 years. As I’m maturing in professional wrestling, my mindset has definitely changed. As long as I’m on an upward trajectory, I’m okay with it.”
Page then emphasized that he’d like to win titles, but they’re not necessarily his ultimate goal. “All Ego” described how he wants to keep working for “a very long time” after his in-ring career comes to a close. He made it clear that he wants to stay relevant and busy for years to come, both with wrestling and other projects.
“I would love that,” said Page. “I won’t hang my hat on that. For me, my goals have changed in the sense that, I want to be able to work for a very long time, but I don’t want to be in the ring for a very long time. I want to be able to leave a legacy in professional wrestling that has a connection with a large enough audience that I can be that guy at a convention in his 50s and 60s, getting to relive those glory days, meeting fans that grew up watching me performing, have a connection in pop culture to stay relevant and stay busy.
“For me to retire and just sit at home, I don’t think that’s going to be me. So, I want to be able to make sure I’ve left a foundation to be able to stay in the industry in some capacity, maybe even as a producer or helping people with the promos. I’m also pivoting, like, talking about the toy hunts, like I’m trying to build a business on the side and find a niche market that I can succeed in. I’m doing my own comic book, that’ll be coming out in a year or two. A lot of things in the works, but I’m not going to say no if I’m going to be champ. Hell yeah.”
Most recently, Page lost to Miro in a qualifying match for the AEW All-Atlantic Championship on the June 15 episode of AEW Dynamite.
