Jay White is the new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
In the main event of NJPW Dominion on June 12, “Switchblade” dethroned Kazuchika Okada by pinning him with the Blade Runner. With the victory, White kicked off his first reign as the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. He previously held the IWGP Heavyweight Champion. Okada’s loss brought his reign to an end at 159 days; he won the title at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 16.

In a post-match promo, White addressed the upcoming AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door show by telling Hangman Page that he can face Okada, but he won’t be getting the title.

On the June 8 episode of AEW Dynamite, Page called out Okada and made it clear that he had his sights set on the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
White debuted on AEW TV in February and has made several appearances since then.
