Report: WWE Wanted The Judgment Day To Be A ‘Supernatural Group’, Edge Was Against The Idea

Finn Balor shocked the wrestling world when he joined The Judgment Day and kicked Edge out of the group on the June 6 episode of WWE RAW. A new report has shined some light on the surprising swerve.

“The Rated-R Superstar” founded the stable after Damian Priest helped him beat AJ Styles at WWE WrestleMania 38. Rhea Ripley joined the duo by costing “The Phenomenal One” his rematch with Edge at WWE WrestleMania Backlash. Over the next few weeks, The Judgment Day feuded with Styles, Balor, and Liv Morgan, and the two trios clashed at WWE Hell in a Cell. The following night, the faction introduced its newest member, Balor, before “The Prince” and his stablemates betrayed Edge.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Edge has been shifted back to the babyface side of the company’s internal roster, as reported by PWInsider. Some fans have speculated that WWE chose to turn Edge back into a babyface due to Cody Rhodes’ injury, but that hasn’t been confirmed. However, Ross Sapp noted that the Hall of Famer’s removal from the group is seemingly a response to creative differences.

Ross Sapp cited sources who noted that WWE wants Judgment Day to be more of a “supernatural” group, and Edge was against the idea. In the report, he also wrote that Balor’s inclusion had been the plan well in advance, but Edge getting kicked out of the group was seemingly a new development.
