Team Taz is thriving, and Ricky Starks couldn’t be more proud of his teammates.
At AEW Double or Nothing, the faction will be featured in two matches on the card. First, on The Buy In, HOOK will join forces with Danhausen to face Tony Nese and “Smart” Mark Sterling. On the main show, Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs will compete in a three-way bout for the AEW World Tag Team Championship. For a group that has been entirely left off the card of some pay-per-views, their presence on Sunday is clearly a step in the right direction.
During an interview with Rick Ucchino with Bleav in Pro Wrestling, Starks discussed Team Taz’s growth and specifically complimented Hobbs for his dedication to both working out and studying.
“It’s been incredible,” said Starks. “He works very hard. He does. Actually everyone from HOOK to Hobbs to me, we all work very hard. And it’s great to see where HOOK is, it’s great to see where Hobbs is, it’s great to see where I am now. So Hobbs in his own credit, he’s done it himself. He wakes up very early on these travel days and he goes to the gym and he works out, he watches what he eats. And he studies, and he’s very attentive. So no one can take any of that from him. That was all Hobbs, his work, and he’s done the damn thing. And I’m very proud to see how far he’s come.”
As for HOOK, Taz’s son has become a sensation, as fans continue to rally around him. When asked about HOOK’s success, Starks noted that he’s not surprised by it, but it’s “cool” to watch it unfold.
“Certain people were surprised,” said Starks. “I don’t think we were. But it is cool to see. I think he had nothing but an upward trend. So yeah he’s doing his damn thing.”
