Cain Velasquez Denied Bail Again On Attempted Murder Charge

Former WWE star Cain Velasquez has been denied bail for the second time.

Velasquez was back in court on May 16, as he has been charged with attempted murder after his arrest in March. Initially, the former UFC Heavyweight Champion was denied bail because the judge ruled him to be a potential threat to the community.

Per Nolan King of MMA Junkie, Velasquez’s attorneys expressed his willingness to that the former WWE superstar was willing to “post $1 million bail, partake in electronic monitoring, and/or have a supervisor with him at all times.” The attorneys also suggested that CTE (Chronic traumatic encephalopathy) or a traumatic brain injury could been linked to the attack, which led to Velasquez’s arrest.

King also cites one of the victims in the alleged shooting, Paul Bender, who discussed the severe consequences he’s still dealing with. Bender stated that he can’t work because he is suffering from nerve damage as a result of the shooting; he also emphasized that Velasquez’s freedom would make him afraid for himself and his family.

After the May 16 hearing, Velasquez’s request for bail was turned down by judge Shelyna Brown, so he’s set to stay in jail until June 10, when he’s scheduled for a plea hearing. Velasquez is facing ten total charges, including 1st-degree attempted murder. More information is available here.
