Bobby Lashley Enjoys Working With Omos: It Lets Me Tap Into My Passion For Combat Sports

Bobby Lashley enjoys working with a giant like Omos because it lets him tap into his passion for combat sports.

The former WWE Champion faced “The Colossus” at WWE WrestleMania 38 and again at WrestleMania Backlash. “The All Mighty” defeated the big man the first time around, but MVP helped his new client clinch the win in the rematch. The two stars will collide in a Steel Cage Match on the May 16 episode of WWE RAW.

Speaking to So Catch, Lashley discussed his on-screen feud with Omos and looked back to his early days on the WWE main roster, when he worked with veterans like Booker T, Fit Finlay, William Regal, and The Big Show. He described how these opponents “walked” him through their matches.

“One thing about me is, when I first came into the wrestling business, when I first started, I was fortunate enough to go against Booker, Show, Regal, Finlay, all these different guys,” said Lashley. “So they just kind of took me under their wing and they kinda walked me through matches. And coming back now, that was the first thing that I started with The Hurt Business. Hurt Business was kind of like that our style that I first came in with. So we were trying to show a different style of wrestling, we’d just kind of be mean to people and best people up, and that’s what we were doing.

By working with a young star like Omos, Lashley stated that he now has the same role as the veterans he mentioned. He then called Omos a physical “freak of nature” and noted that the size difference makes it feel like a real fight.

“So now I kinda find myself in the same role some of those guys did, back in the days, with some of these newer guys coming up and having the opportunity to get in the ring with them,” said Lashley. “Somebody like Omos, I mean the guy is a freak of nature. When you see him, he’s the only person that I’ve ever been in the ring with that actually made me feel tiny. So I enjoy it. I love fighting, I love all that. Combat sports is just my life.

“So a challenge like him, it was great, man. I find a way to pick him apart, break him down and take him out. But now the feud’s a little bit mushy because MVP’s in there so we’re gonna see. There’s are a lot of good things to come with that feud.”
