Ronda Rousey picked up a monumental win at WWE WrestleMania Backlash, and the victory was particularly meaningful for “The Baddest Woman on the Planet.”
On May 8, Rousey defeated Charlotte Flair in an “I Quit” Match to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship. As the new champion stated in a WWE Digital Exclusive, taking the title home was the perfect way to close out Mother’s Day.
“Well it’s definitely a lot more different than anything I’ve ever been through,” said Rousey. “I’m pretty sure I popped my ear drum at some point but I think this is the best Mother’s Day present I could ask for. It was great.”
When asked how it felt to make her bitter rival say “I Quit”, Rousey made it clear that it wasn’t any different from her previous submission victories because, in her words, Flair isn’t special.
“Basically the same as it felt to make every other woman tap out before, so,” said Rousey. “I told her before, you’re not special.”
Rousey previously gave birth to her daughter, La’akea Makalapuaokalanipō Brown, in September 2021, and she returned to WWE in January.
