AJ Styles hoped to get some revenge when he faced Edge at WWE WrestleMania Backlash.
The two veterans have been feuding since the road to WrestleMania, when the WWE Hall of Famer brutally attacked Styles with a steel chair. At “The Show of Shows” “The Rated-R Superstar” defeated “The Phenomenal One” with the help of Damian Priest. Since then, the duo have continued to torment Styles, determined to punish the former WWE Champion and deliver his reckoning.
On Sunday, Styles brought to Edge right away, and the match quickly spilled to the outside. “The Phenomenal One” hit an impressive springboard moonsault and gained an early advantage.

Edge took control by targeting Styles’ hurt shoulder and grounded him. “The Phenomenal One” refused to give in, as he persevered and kept fighting. Edge took Styles down again and went for a crossface, but the fan-favorite escaped and locked in the Calf Crusher. Styles dodged a Spear, sending Edge crashing into a turnbuckle, and got a two count with a roll-up. “The Phenomenal One” hit a Styles Clash for a two count. Damian Priest, who was barred from ringside, came to the ring to distract Styles, but Finn Balor attacked him to even the odds. A hooded person blindsided Styles, which allowed Edge to lock in a crossface. The WWE Hall of Famer transitioned the hold and choked out Styles for the win.
