The women’s street fight from AEW: New Year’s Smash was one of the hottest topics in pro wrestling to start the new year and now one of the competitors in that match has taken some time to reflect on her experience in the bloody battle.
AEW star Anna Jay recently spoke to Ella Jay for SEScoops and delved into the street fight she had alongside Tay Conti against The Bunny and Penelope Ford on the 12/31 edition of AEW Rampage: New Years Smash.
“That was definitely a lot of fun, it wasn’t like anything that I’ve done before. I think my biggest takeaway was always believe in myself, I can do these things, some other people may not be able to but I can, ya know? I can do hardcore things, which I never thought I’d be able to do,” Anna said, “but I had a lot of fun and I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought that I would have.”
Anna would then explain her preparations heading into the match, noting that the only prep that really needed to be done was mental.
“I think the only preparation was mentally, knowing what my body was going to endure. It’s funny too but I actually had a super bad migraine that day before the match and I did not feel good at all,” Anna explained, “so it was really hard for me to focus on worrying about things, it was a crazy day. But, yeah, I’d say just mentally knowing what I was about to do.”
Anna Jay is 7-1 in AEW since TayJay won the street fight against Penelope Ford & The Bunny, with the only blemish being a loss to TBS Champion Jade Cargill on the January 21 episode of AEW Rampage.
