AJ Gray has thrown down the gauntlet for the GCW World Championship match at Joey Janela’s Spring Break 6.
On February 25, Gray defeated ACH at the “Welcome to Heartbreak” event to retain his GCW Extreme Championship. After the bout, he cut a promo and brought up his victory in the Grab the Brass Ring Ladder at The WRLD on GCW at the Hammerstein show in January. With this win, he earned the right to have any match of his choosing at any time. He chose “Welcome to Heartbreak” as the time to call his shot, as he challenged Jon Moxley to a match for his world title at Joey Janela’s Spring Break.
Gray cut another promo in a video GCW shared on its Twitter page. In it, he stated that he respects Moxley, but he plans on taking back the title he never lost three years ago.

Moxley won the title at “The Art of War Games” event on September 5 by defeating Matt Cardona. The former AEW World Champion took some time away from wrestling throughout the fall and early winter when he entered an alcohol inpatient alcohol treatment program at the beginning of November. But he returned to the ring in January and defended his championship at The WRLD on GCW, where he defeated Homicide.
Janela’s Spring Break 6 will be held as part of The Collective on WrestleMania in Dallas, Texas; this particular two-night event will be on March 31 and April 2 at Fair Park.
Update: GCW confirmed the bout in a tweet on February 26.
