Matt Hardy On The Hardy Boyz’s Reunion: It’s Going To Be Great, We’re Excited To Face Many New Teams

The (Hardy) boys are back in town, as Matt and Jeff Hardy are gearing up for their reunion tour as a tag team.

This weekend alone, The Hardy Boyz will make four appearances together, fresh off of Jeff’s AEW debut on the March 9 episode of AEW Dynamite. Many fans are excited to see the two brothers team up again, especially considering the fact that they had been working for different companies since Matt signed with AEW in 2020.

Jeff’s WWE release has enabled this comeback, and in an interview with Graham GSM Matthews of Bleacher Report, Matt explained that the ability to end their careers together as a tag team is all they ever wanted, He also expressed his excitement about facing new teams throughout the writing world. Of course, he also noted that there’s plenty of potential match-ups in AEW.

“Jeff and I both made that deal to each other: we want to end our careers the way we began our careers,” Matt said. “We’re getting the opportunity to do that now as all of the planets have aligned. I’m really excited for how 2022 is going to turn out for the Hardys. It’s going to be a great, great year and we’re very much excited to be teaming again and having some first-time matches, which is going to be rare.

“We’ve gone long enough without teaming that there’s all these fresh matchups out there and there’s so many great tag teams in the world,” he continued. “The AEW tag team division is jam-packed and overflowing. If we end up doing something at AEW, I think that’d be very cool, too.”

Matt also explained that fans can expect to see the typical Hardy Boyz in the opening stretch of this run, but he teased that the brothers might tap into their “Broken Matt” and Brother Nero pairing.

“I definitely think when we start this era of teaming with one another, it’s going to be a basic Matt and Jeff Hardy, the Hardys that you remember working in our up-to-date styles,” Matt said. “But if something did happen where we could do a ‘Broken’ Matt and Brother Nero thing, I think he’d love to do it as well. He loved the hell out of it also, he really enjoyed doing the Brother Nero thing and he really embraced it. As they say in the wrestling business, never say never.”

After Jeff’s debut on Dynamite, Matt discussed the memorable occasion; you can check out his comments here.
