Game Changer Wrestling is just two days away from its biggest show ever, as “The WRLD On GCW” will be held at the Hammerstein Ballroom on January 23. This event has been compared to WrestleMania for the buzzworthy promotion, and the wrestling world has its eyes on GCW more than ever heading into Sunday’s show.
In an interview with Stephen Muehlhausen of DAZN News, GCW owner Brett Lauderdale shared his thoughts on the show and discussed how meaningful it is. When asked whether he ever thought this milestone was possible, he admitted that it might have been a “far-fetched” goal, but he always believed in the company’s potential.
“The realist in me says, ‘I don’t know. Probably not. It seems pretty far-fetched,'” said Lauderdale. “There’s no other way to put it than that. This is a big deal this weekend. But also, the other part of me says, ‘Yes, I did think this was possible. I’ve always been confident and who GCW is and what we stand for, (the) kind of the vision, the spirit, and the attitude of GCW. I’ve always thought this was possible. But it doesn’t make it any less significant or make us any less nervous or excited as this weekend approaches.”
At other times throughout GCW’s history, the promotion was breakout moments, such as its memorable Spring Break Two show and the inaugural Bloodsport event, which Lauderdale cited as examples of a “breakthrough.” He explained that each and every time GCW reaches one of these important moments, the company capitalizes and makes the most of the opportunity.
“Those were moments where we broke through another layer that expanded outside our bubble,” said Lauderdale. “A year later, Jersey City was big. Yes, Dark Side of the Ring was huge. That was another bubble that was burst. Matt Cardona and Nick Gage, that match alone brought a lot of new eyes on us. So there’s been so many times where it’s multiple breakthroughs, where it was like, we may have thought, like, ‘Alright, we’ve reached just about everybody we can reach in this world. And then it’s like, oh, wait, here we go again’.
“Every time something new pops up, we get these opportunities. I think the key for GCW is that we take advantage of every opportunity we get.”
Based on this pattern, it’s safe to predict that GCW will deliver a remarkable show on Sunday. Thankfully, fans won’t have to wait long to see what happens at “The WRLD On GCW.”
