Lita made her return to the world of WWE during Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown, and although she may be competing in the upcoming Women’s Royal Rumble, a recent report notes that Lita came close to switching companies.
According to a recent report from Fightful Select, Lita was approached by All Elite Wrestling in 2019 for an opportunity to appear on the show. The report notes that AEW made a pitch for Lita to appear in a “top program” with the AEW Women’s Champion Dr. Britt Baker, and that the talks between the two sides even included a creative plan that included appearances at AEW All Out 2021.
However, the two sides were unable to come to an agreement, the report says. Elsewhere in the report, Fightful notes that Lita has never been on WWE’s “do not contact list” due to her injuries, and the superstar has been cleared for an in-ring return since 2018. Clearly, it seems as if Lita has an itch to return to wrestling, and will do so during the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble later this month.
