It’s “Boss Time.”
As first reported by Joe Otterson of Variety, former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks will have a starring role in the opening segment for the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship on January 10.
Per Otterson, Banks will play a “futuristic superhero who sparks” the high-stakes game on Monday night using a piece of confetti from the 2021 title game. This year, Georgia will face Alabama in what promises to be a thrilling clash, and fans can watch it on the ESPN TV channel or online, using the ESPN app.
In the Variety article, Banks commented on the news by calling it an “honor”, and she spoke highly of the whole experience.
“It’s been such an honor, I feel like everybody who has been working on the set, and the whole team have been so incredible… to walk in and to just feel so welcome, and just to see everything, and I was just like, it was amazing,” Banks said. “I love the outfit, I love the concept, and it just fit me so well.”
In the past, other WWE stars like Big E and Goldberg have appeared on ESPN programming; both Big E and Goldberg have popped up on College Gameday.
Banks had a breakout role as Koska Reeves in “The Mandalorian.” She’s currently out of in-ring action because she’s recovering from a foot injury.
